29 june 2006 is a happy day for me! coz i passed my driving test at the 1st attempt!!! woohoOo. im a happy girl!!! :):):):):):)

anyway.. i wouldnt wan to experience that waiting process for the driving test ever again lo. it's nerve wrecking, i tell u.. after ur test warm up drive.. u'll wait for the testers to call all the pple who's taking the test to gather in a room to ballot for ur test route.. the waiting process sucks.. i was more nervous while waiting than during the actual test itself lo. =.=

how i passed my test..
number 1: visit suntec city fountain of wealth and make a silent wish to pass my driving test.
number 2: mom offers incense to all the gods worshipped at home
number 3: get a lucky test car no. 88

and guess wad? i got ZERO demerit points for my circuit! and when i was on the road, as i passed all the traffic junctions.. no amber light! mostly green all the way.. and weather was good plus road condition was smooth as well.. so i had absolutely no prob doing lane change! call me superstitious. hahahaah... i think i passed with the minimal skills + alot of luck!!

who wanna join me for a spin????? :D

"Just J" world tour 2006

i had the opportunity to attend JJ Lin's first ever concert held in the Singapore indoor stadium.. it's like oso the first concert i've ever been to.. n guess wad?? i had complimentary tix to the concert all thanks to gina's cousin who had some connections.. so me and sharon.. off we went to jj's concert! the indoor stadium was packed.. with say prob 10,000 audience.. although we had complimentary tix.. the seats we were assigned to was not too bad lah. quite centralised but abit far..

i really like the way the concert started.. with jj playing the flute to the tune of "yi qian nian yi hou"... and followed by several fast songs such as "mu nai yi" and "bian hao 89757". he had 2 special guests who are jinsha and a-do.. maybe pple dun really know who jinsha is.. but she's the jean yip girl. u noe very fair looking girl who was touching her skin in the advertisement? she's rather new in this industry.. when she came out solo, alot of pple were like.. not really responsive.. quite sad lah. but it got better when she did a duet with jj called "bei feng chui guo de xia tian". one of my fave songs!! haha.. oh! i really like the costume jj wore when he performed the song "di er tian tang". NICE. the encore part was the highlight of the entire concert.. jj sang 3 songs in all. "cao cao", "zhi dui ni shuo" when he broke down in tears.. i prob shld have mentioned this before.. i hate to see guys cry.. they make me wanna cry too! :'( but i guess his are tears of joy.. can u imagine the excitement and happiness to be performing in front of a homecrowd of 10,000 pple? his dad cried too.. must have been so so proud of his son and his achievements.. :) well.. the concert ended with an award winning song "jiang nan". it was a great way to end the concert. PERFECT. :)

postnote: the only imperfect part of the concert was that i didnt really enjoy myself thoroughly coz we were surrounded by really uninterested audience.. like these 2 pri sch kids i assume.. one of them was like covering her ears coz the music is too loud for her liking.. that was kind of a spoiler. i think she came in with complimentary tix too.. but i think pple who wans to come and enjoy the show shld have her tix instead.. it was wasted on her.
ohyea.another imperfection. i didnt haf camera with me!! coz my bro's in taiwan and he took the cam. and sharon's bro in australia and she didnt haf her cam with her either.. OH SIGH. if not i would haf taken at least 50 pics. hahaa..

anyway i had the most adventurous trip home ever.. as the concert ended at 11.30pm.. and we dilly dally for a while.. n i missed the bus called "stadium direct" that reaches the busstop outside my house there. with that i oso missed the last train.. so i was stranded.. thank goodness sharon's dad sent us to a bukit timah busstop where we alighted to try to hail a cab.. but i dunno wad happened.. all the cabs are either hired or busy or changing shifts.. dots. so we waited for like 15 mins.. and this bus 48 came along. it's prob god-sent. hahaha.. and jielin and i boarded it to change venue for getting a cab.. and we alighted at holland village.. and mins after i alighted the bus, i got a cab! i tot my cabfare would be like $20++ if i had boarded from kallang. but i slashed it by half coz i boarded the cab at holland village. my cabfare amounts to a grand total of $12.40. and i reached home at 1am! wad a ride home!

as i was playing maplestory.. i realised i could up sharon's character's fame again. which means 1 month has already passed by.. zooom zooom. fast isnt it? in prob 6 weeks' time, i will start sch! a brand new phase in my life. a phase that im really looking forward to... UNIVERSITY! when did i started blogging? i cant remember leh. maybe i'll go check out my archives later. but wad i was trying to say is that time really flies...

can u tell that i dun really haf anything to blog? haha

things have just been happening arnd me.. things that make up my life.. bits and pieces here and there, prob not worthy to be mentioned on a blog. hmm. like i've been going for driving lessons.. and next thurs is my driving test. and im hoping 'passing test god' will possess me that day. if not, maybe im destined to take public transport? haha.. other than that.. im prob going to start giving tuition next week to a p5 girl.. hopefully she dun stun me with any of her questions coz im so out of touch from pri sch syllabus. and lastly, plans of going to taiwan in the making.. hopefully it will be successful.. yep to sum it up. my life is boring........

Happy Father's Day! oh well. not exactly a happy one for my dad.. he was feeling sick.. been sick for a week or so already.. this afternoon, he was just feeling plain horrible. so i guess. not a happy one for him. but he felt much better in the evening.. prob because there was world cup. haha. i hope he recovers soon.

anyway. speaking of world cup. the 9am match just now. japan vs croatia.. final score 0-0. sighh.. i guess japan's chances of squeezing into the top 16 is slim. coz they're meeting brazil in the next game. and they need to win brazil in order to even haf a chance of going into the next rnd.. SIGH. why did they lose to australia? HOW could they lose to australia? ....

side-tracking abit. there's a japanese player named TAMADA. as i heard the commentator pronouncing his name during the match.. i kept thinking that the commentator was swearing. hahaa.. ok. not that funny. i was just amused since there was no goal scored in the entire 94 mins played.

after eating so much liquid food yday. or rather this morning.. i ended up throwing everything up, including bits of my dinner last nite.. EwwW.. my stomach just felt queasy in the morning i woke up (due to hunger.) and i woke up at 7.30am... and i blogged at 4.30am yday. so i effectively only slept for less than 3 hrs.... YAY.... after throwing up, i couldnt sleep again. strange strange. and i was supposed to go bugis shopping with sharon today! oh sigh. so since i was feeling unwell (as always).. plans were changed. instead of travelling to bugis.. sharon made a journey to the west by coming down to my house.. we did the matriculation of ntu online.. and found out that our emails add are quite hilarious.. esp sharon's. and we tried so hard to get sharon's wireless connected by tabbing on some of my neighbours' wireless connection.. but failed quite badly!!! haha.

AND. i finally stock up. FOOD in this case. i bought maggie mee, honey stars, HL milk, hello panda biscuits, instant cereals. mommy bought more biscuits and grapes and eggs.. i swore not to get starved like last nite ever again!
Shan ♥ 11:50 PM
it's 4.24am now.

wow. im still awake not because im watching world cup. coz im hungry and i cant get to sleeeep! and guess wad, i have no solid food at home. pathetic right? no instant noodles. no biscuits. and i haf expired bread. since i haf no solid food, i settled for liquid food. i drank one cup of teh tarik, knowing that it wun sustain me for long.. soon enough. my stomach started growling again. so i made myself a cup of cereal. den i fried an egg. den i went to sleep. i tried to sleep but my stomach protested after 20 mins. i woke up. i made myself another cup of teh tarik.. and i went back to sleep again. but 2 cups of teh tarik = alot of caffeine for me for a non-coffee drinker like me. so im very awake now. so after lying on the bed for another half an hr.. my stomach is empty again. once again, i woke up looking for food. i found a piece of bread. dun haf expiry date on it. and so i gobbled it down with alot of water. i think im super awake now due to the caffeine which oso explains why im here typing this rubbish entry.

WARNING! This is a rather long entry. u may skip the first part if u are not interested in badminton.

AVIVA OPEN 2006
5 June - 11 June

i went for 5 outta 7 days of the competition held last week at the singapore indoor stadium. tiring. somewhat travelling to kallang everyday made me very tired. maybe i havent had something to do for ages.. haha. anyway it's a once in a yr event. of coz being a badminton enthusiast, i couldnt miss out on this big event for badminton in singapore. however, the players that came this yr kinda disappointed me. taufik didnt come. boonsak didnt come. :( and all the top chinese female players didnt come either.. so this yr, women's singles.. netherlands vs france. surprise surprise??? let me explain further. representing netherlands, mia audina, was ex-indonesian. her husband is from netherlands which explains why she represents netherlands now. her history is quite a drama. her dad disowned her coz she went over to netherlands as her dad was indonesian national coach for badminton.. WOW. ok. i have digressed. and representing france, pi hongyan. she's french-chinese import... so yep.. ok. anyway for the first time in so many yrs of watching singapore open, it was not an all chinese affairs for women's singles finals. and this time round, pi hongyan won mia audina coz she's younger and fitter. in terms of skills, mia is still the better one.. so a pity for mia.. and cheers for pi hongyan for being extremely determined and winning the first ever 5-stars championship in her career i think..
of coz i will mention my favourite in this competition.. peter gade christensen! he's e winner of this yr men's singles.. he's a happy man coz he was nv crowned champion in singapore. the closest he came to touching that title was back in 1999 when he lost in the finals. he was injured when he was at his peak and was even world no. 1 den.. that was prob quite a few yrs back. but he went for operation and made a comeback.. a remarkable comeback. it wasnt easy to catch up after he stopped for so long.. especially he's 29 turning 30 soon.. so that's something i really admire bout him alot. and there's a plus point about him.. he's good looking! very good looking for a badminton player. hahah.. here's a photo to prove it.

not convinced? here's another!!

u're probably bored if u're not a fan of badminton. so let's change topic.

I NOT STUPID TOO

afterthoughts of watching the movie.

i know im abit slow lah. only watched it now. that was because i was working when the movie was being screened.. by the time i was free to watch, it was already like taken off already. so today i watched the dvd borrowed from my neighbour. cried buckets of tears.. it's a local movie and all the topics raised in the movie was close to life.. so i guessed i could relate to wad they
wanted to portray.

one of the issues raised... public caning. i vaguely remembered witnessing public caning when i was in pri sch.. i forgot wad it was all about.. it's prob a contrvoversial issue in the past coz i dun think many schs adopt such a punishment system now.. anyway it works two ways. either e person canned will be warned and not do wadeva they've done again. or it'll totally suck self-esteem out of the child. my stand is that i just feel that public caning will not solve problems. in fact i think it'll create more problems? suitable caning ought to be adopted at times but shld be done at home or behind the doors at least. den u haf to explain to the child afterwards why u cane him or her (maybe a few hrs later when he or she has cooled down) I believed that by doing it in public will just make the child wanna be more rebellious in future.. i can imagine if it's me.. i would haf done wad tom has done inside the movie. look for alternative "comfort zones". in his case, he sought 'attention' from triads.. if it was me. i may just become extremely introverted.. the repercussions are greater than some adults think.

although some of the issues mentioned inside the show are exaggerated for the humour effect, i think they are very true.. like parents having no time for their children using the excuse of having to earn a living. and how some parents neglect their children's feelings and always thinking that they're right. communication. yes. communication is the key. i wonder wad my parents would think if they read this entry of mine. (which i dun think will ever happen) everybody makes mistakes... parents too. a simple word of "sorry" wun kill? in my case.. i guess my parents are really traditional ones. they always think that as parents, they ought to have a certain air of authority and shld nv apologise.. coz that would totally make us lose respect for them. WRONG! sometimes, a word of apology can stop a big fight from brewing.. im saying this becoz my mom nv actually apologised to me after throwing away my treasured nanyang badminton jerseys and class tee shirts away.. when i questioned her about the disappearance of my shirts, she said that i didnt wear them and so she gave them away to those collecting old clothes.. OK. i understood where she was coming from.. doing charity stuff and all and i dun need so many shirts that i didnt wear.. BUT. firstly she didnt ask me. u may say im kicking up a big fuss. but those shirts meant alot alot to me. it was part of the many things that made the waisan u see today. yea. i think u get wad i mean. if my mom has apologised at that moment of time, i would been a bit more appeased although i will still cry buckets of tears over my treasured shirts that i'll probably not get back ever in my life again. till now, whenever i still feel the anger brewing within me whenever i think bout this incident.. is saying "sorry" that hard???

famine camp or aviva semi finals? im torn apart. why must the famine camp training be this saturday??? this sat happens to be the semi finals for aviva open. i figured. quarter finals and semis are usually the nicest and the most exciting to watch.. ARGH! one part of me wanted to be part of the famine camp this yr as a facilitator.. another part of me wants to watch the semis live at the indoor stadium!!

i haf decided to email habitat for humanity back for the famine camp volunteering. but i'll indicate that i need to leave early from the training due to "personal reasons". hahaha. so if they wan me, they'll take me i guess. if not, at least i tried. scully after i think so much and took so long to reply, they dun need pple already.. =.=

it sucks to be sick. i didnt step out of house for the last five days except to make visits to the doctor. most of the times, my dad had to send me there via car coz my legs were too weak. i looked ghastly coz my face was super pale.. my mouth was permanently dry and no amount of water could quench my thirst. my lips cracked. i couldnt bathe. (not that i dun wan to. but my mom dun allow.) so i had to wet towel and 'clean' myself. so pathetic. couldnt wash my hair (AHHHHHHHHH!! disgusting.) couldnt eat rice. couldnt eat biscuits. i could only eat bread. drink cereal. eat tong xin fen.. which are not filling. cannot on the fan. must cover myself when wind blows. cannot sleep too much. have to wake up at 4am to eat medicine. have to bathe with chicken feathers (YUCKS.)

understand wad i mean by saying IT SUCKS TO BE SICK?
