Week 3 of Internship

I'll keep this short since i have to get some work done before work starts tml.

Last week was... quite boring once again. as usual, i had nothing much to do. until the meeting on friday, when the bosses started giving us alot of work to do over cny. and cos i wasnt really in the mood to do work, i am going to start after typing this entry. haha!

Last week was sai gang week.

One. Wendy and I were tasked to purchase cny decorations for the office.

Two. I was tasked to bring the printer to the service centre for servicing. Very nice Wendy offered to go down with me.

Three. Wendy and I were given $50 to buy something for the downstairs' office for CNY cos they gave us some mandarin oranges. So both of us kinda ran to Chinatown to purchase muachee + jelly + mandarin oranges in half an hour.

But on the positive side, i got my very first intern pay! ok. i haven actually cashed my cheque. but hey, at least, i know i'll be a little richer after cny!

Oh ya, Happy Chinese New Year~

Week 2 of internship

Time really crawled this week. cos i really had nothing much to do. the day when i had most things to do was on monday. cos i attended a brief on a project and attended a presentation for another project.

and oh, all the fuss about wardrobe malfunction kept me rather busy too. cos the working dress code says casual. so i was decked in t-shirt and black jeans with pumps on monday. my bosses found me a little under-dressed for the brief in the morning. and i was like "uh-oh". den they asked if i had a more formal jacket cos i had a presentation in the afternoon. and i was like doubly "uh-oh". so once i stepped into office, i was busy trying to borrow tops and jackets so that i dun look too disrespectful during the meeting later. and my very nice colleagues searched the company's wardrobe (clothes for shoots they bought) and found me a decent looking dress. and i got all changed.

later in the afternoon, after i got to the client's office, i realized the rubber strip around my pumps is coming off. so i had this little 'tail' that is flapping when i walk. -.-" i end up borrowing my colleague's slippers to wear home that evening... tell me about wardrobe malfunction in a day! well, that was a very eventful monday.

but the rest of the week... zzzz

cos alot of my projects are still pending, i had nothing much to do! i was trying so hard not to fall asleep after lunches everyday. i offered to do stuff for my colleagues and still, i was still Bored with a capital B.

and finally came friday, when i finally couldn't take it anymore, so i asked one of the more senior colleagues if they had anything for me to do. and they suggested that i pack the store and rearrange all the clothes they have in their wardrobe. oh, that only kept me occupied for the morning. i tot i could follow some of my colleagues down to mediacorp costumes library to take a look. but unfortunately, the director gave me some of his work to do. so zzz, there i was, coped in office, searching for photos.

on a side note, cny in a week's time! yay!

one week into my internship..

some thoughts about work.

firstly, i still enjoy being a student! cos when u're a student, u can plan your own timetable so that u wun wear yourself out. secondly, if i am simply too tired, i can wake up and say, i will pon today's lecture. BUT.. such "privileges" do not apply to internship. cos i am responsible and good worker, so i figure i will be there at work every single day. haha.

wendy and i came to a conclusion after a week of work. we feel that the pple at work find us very boring. we dunno if that's how they feel but that's how both of us feel. cos it's a small company and everyone knows everyone very well, so there's a lot of internal jokes that the two of us dun get. maybe we are not too familiar with them yet, we dun really dare to interrupt them with our own opinions when they are speaking. afterall, they are the professionals and we are still learning. so i guess we are still alittle apprehensive.

but we are optimistic. we think we need some time to break the ice before they fully accept us into the little family.

meanwhile, i had to work on the first saturday on my first week of internship! :( sigh... had to cover a S ing tel event. and it feels super BJ-rish. hahaha.

but all is good so far, i have one project on hand that i guess i am fully in-charge of. the rest of the projects, i just hang around and help out. but all the projects that i am involved are all corporate videos! i have watched the greatest number of corporate videos in my first week at work compared to my entire lifetime.

my next project is a shoot in penang! yay, i get to travel. :) and it's an ad! yay, more ads, less corporate videos please...

I am back in Singapore!

some outdated photos from China!

Hangzhou

Photobucket

taken at one of the islands in west lake. i dunno why but i have this thing for twigs and their reflections in the waters. haha. i think it gives one a very rustic kinda feeling.

Photobucket

i really like this photo. :)

Photobucket

us against the pretty willows.

Photobucket

a group photo of me with howie's family and relatives in front of the yue fei temple. yes, there were 9 of us.. haha.

Photobucket

taken at the song dynasty city, a man-made tourist attraction which i feel that we didnt spend enough time at. cos we were on a packaged tour and they just bring us to this place and left us alone for 40 mins. but i feel that there's quite a lot of things to see in this place, just that they had to rush us. that is why i always like to travel free and easy.

Photobucket

i decided to post this cos i find this photo very artistic. haha.

Last few days in Shanghai

Not in chronological order

Photobucket

we visited the ikea in shanghai and had meat balls! cheap cheap. i sound like a chick.

Photobucket

check out my makeover!

Photobucket

and to make up for my regret of not eating peking duck in beijing, howie brought me to eat this peking duck-alike thingy at this cantonese soup restaurant which was yummilicious! :)

Photobucket

cos it is super dry in shanghai, we decided to pamper ourselves with masks! haha. i think we look very scary.

Photobucket

i paid a visit to shanghai jiao tong university (the uni that howie studied in during his GIP period) and i found the school to be really small, just like how big NIE is. and it looks more like a housing estate than a school. haha. but apparently, that is not the main school campus. that campus that howie studied in was meant for post grads and overseas exchange students..

Photobucket

we lunched at ajisen thereafter. and this scallop ramen was very good! but i seriously doubt i can find the same ramen of the same standard here in singapore's branch of ajisen. =X

Photobucket

find this church in the background familiar? if you do, u have been watched "Fated to Love You"! this church was featured in the taiwanese idol drama. this church is near jiao tong university.

Photobucket

after that we headed to this super nice cafe called Cabler.

check out the interior design.

Photobucket

and the cakes!

Photobucket
Photobucket

Black and white forest on top; strawberry mousse bottom. i absolutely adore the top cake! it was very rich in chocolate taste. even for a non-chocolate fan like me can't resist the taste. haha.

Photobucket

yum yum! very nice presentation too!

At night we headed to xiao chi jie (Snacks street at West Nanjing Road)

Photobucket

this is the famous...

Photobucket

Xiao Yang Sheng Jian Baos! it taste very much like fried xiao long baos, super juicy!

Photobucket

We also had little lobsters.. which er.. tasted alright. haha.

The next day, we visited

Photobucket

Shanghai Cheng Huang Temple. we didnt go in though.

Instead we went to queue for...

Photobucket

Nan Xiang Xiao Long Baos! supposedly to be the most famous xlb in shanghai. howie tried it before and told me he had eaten better ones. but i had to eat it to believe. haha.

Photobucket

check out the never ending queue!

Photobucket

our xlbs after queuing for 40 minutes.

Verdict?

it's really not that worth the wait. haha.

Next up,

Photobucket

Qi Bao Old town.

cos we didnt have time to travel to suzhou so howie decided to bring me here to get a feel of how suzhou is like..

Photobucket

we ate very nice tang yuan!

Photobucket

and the not very nice takopachi. haha.

Photobucket

beautiful night scenery.

Last morning in Shanghai

i think i have not posted anything on the room that i stayed for the past one month.

Photobucket

the room! which is now all tidied up.

Photobucket

the faithful warmer that kept the room in reasonable temperature. :)

Photobucket

and the pretty condo surroundings. i think i will miss the place..

Photobucket

after the landlord and agents came around to "collect" their house, we dragged our heavy luggage and arrived at the Magnetic Levitation Train Platform, one of the world's fastest trains that sends us straight to the Pudong Airport.

And here i am, home sweet home! :)

Photobucket

we da-baoed my favourite drink from china, yin yang kuai xian! haha. it taste something like yakult, except that it comes in bigger bottle and at a super cheap price of about $0.80 each. haha.

ok that kinda sums up my month's trip to china. and that's a lot of photos up there. haha.

must get ready for work tomorrow. hope my internship goes well! and for those starting school, jiayou! :)

Happy 2009!! :)

tonight is the last night i'll be spending in shanghai. i'll be back tml night to embrace the hot and humid singapore weather. singapore weather rocks! so dun complain that it's too hot. seriously i would rather it hot than freezing cold. at the minimal, u dun have to put on layers of clothes, wear socks and shoes just to go downstairs to get some food to eat.

so singapore, im coming home! :)
